Tenured and Tenure Track Faculty

The school's tenured and tenure track faculty are typically active in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate classes, the supervision of research projects conducted by undergraduates, graduate students and in many cases postdoctoral scholars or research scientists. Some of them also have administrative responsibilities. It is expected that tenured and tenure track faculty secure outside financial support, usually from government agencies or industry, for the research projects under their supervision, and publish the results of their research projects.

Academic Professionals

Academic professionals are non-tenure track academic faculty members who manage key components of the school’s academic program, such as our undergraduate laboratory courses. In many cases, they also partner with the school’s tenured and tenure track faculty to develop and deliver courses.

Professor of the Practice

Professors of the Practice are nontenure track faculty with at least 10 years of relevant experience outside of a traditional academic environment and a demonstrated reputation for excellence in their field of expertise.

Adjunct Faculty

Our adjunct faculty consists of full time tenured or tenure track faculty members whose salary comes from academic units other than the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Tech. This status gives them the right to supervise graduate students who are pursuing a degree through the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry. They are expected to be active within the school and often teach or serve on school level committees.
