There are several groups operating on campus, regionally, and nationally to provide professional development opportunities and support for both chemists and biochemists. Within our school, the Women in Chemistry Committee, Graduate Student Forum, and our student chapter of the American Chemical Society have been active for many years. Recently, a Young Professional Group has been founded to better meet the needs of our large and growing population of postdoctoral scholars and young research scientists. GT has had a vibrant AXE chapter for many years, and this professional fraternity brings together students from many majors to enjoy social events and participate in outreach activities with a chemical theme. The Georgia Tech chapter of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) provides programming to support the career development of black chemists and chemical engineers on campus.
The Georgia Section of the American Chemical Society has a regular program of meetings and events that bring chemists together and promote chemistry as a discipline.
The Atlanta Area Chemical Physics (AACP) seminar series is cohosted by Georgia Tech and Emory University and provides wide-ranging talks in the fields of chemical physics and physical chemistry.
